Bishop notched a natural hat trick in an 8-1 victory over Appleton Green Saturday at the Appleton Family Ice Center. Fondy Ends Season on Sour Note

Mar 2...Fond du Lac, WI

The Fond du Lac Pee Wee C team finished a disappointing last place in the State PeeWee C Tournament here today.

The Thunder had a chance to finish seventh as they held a 4-3 lead over Waukesha D late in the game Sunday, but the Warhawks came back to tie and the game went to overtime. The two squads played scoreless hockey in the first extra period and Waukesha clinced the victory with a goal two minutes into the second overtime by a final of 5-4.

Zach McLaughlin and Parker Owen each scored once, and Ian Bishop added two. Owen also had an assist and Tyler Schram had two. Fond du Lac outshot Waukesha 3 to 1.

Fondy opened the tournament with a 3-1 loss to Wausau. The scoring didn't start until halfway through the third when McLaughlin scored on an assist from Nathan Bishop. Wausau then scored two goals less than three minutes apart to grab the lead and put in an empty netter when Fond du Lac added an extra attacker. The Thunder again held the edge in shots, nearly 2 to 1.

Nathan Bishop suffered a broken elbow in the game and was lost for the rest of the tournament.

Without their number four scorer in Bishop, the Thunder stayed strong in their next game against Green Bay for over 20 minutes. The scored was tied 2-2 early in the second but then the Bobcats scored five unanswered tallies for a 7-2 victory. Goal scorers for Fond du Lac included Schram and McLaughlin.

Fondy season  record was 20-15-1.
